From a Basement in Kherson to a Forever Home

Every day, 74-year-old Oleksandr walks to the basement of an apartment building in Kherson, Ukraine — not because he has to, but because nine cats are waiting for him. Three kittens. Six adults. All displaced by war, living in the dark.

Oleksandr feeds them, watches for illness, and finds them vets when he can. He and his wife already share a one-bedroom apartment with two cats of their own — there's no room for more. He can't give these cats what they truly need: a home.
